Day 30: A Photo I Find Beautiful

This is the last day for the photo challenge!

Photo taken by Kyle
I chose this picture because I think it's so sweet and a beautiful representation of a mother and father cherishing their baby.

Day 29: My Favorite Person in History

Well, besides the Sunday School answer of Jesus, my favorite person in history is the apostle John. I love the Gospel of John which he wrote and I think it's awesome that God revealed Revelation to him at Patmos. John endured great persecution and he was exiled to the island of Patmos, alone and forsaken. He knew what it meant to drink from the cup of Jesus.

Out Of Order

That phrase "out of order" can be used in different ways. You can find it plastered on a coke machine, a toilet stall, or coming out of the mouth of a judge in a courtroom. You can use this phrase to explain the chaos of a situation or the arrangement of things; like the books on my bookshelf for instance. Right now, I use this phrase to describe myself and my life this past week. I've been sick and have spent the entire week in bed, out of order. At first I had flu like symptoms and after a few days it morphed into a horrible cold and we all know how long that nasty bug likes to hang around. It has been awful; I didn't sleep for two nights because of the congestion and inability to get comfortable and breathe. I was finally able to start breathing through both nostrils yesterday and got a good nights sleep last night. I am on the mend but I still don't feel 100%.

I'm going to school tomorrow because I feel well enough and I just cannot miss another week of school. I missed an exam last Tuesday and a quiz in Hebrew. Thankfully my Hebrew professor sent me the quiz via email but as for my Roman World professor I have yet to hear back from him. However, I can say that thankfully there is an exam that is optional and if I take it it will replace an exam so I suppose I'll be okay. I just hate getting behind in school and I have never not shown up for a test! (Yes, I just used a double negative. I told you, out of order!) Anyway. . .I hope to be 100% back to normal soon and get back on track with school. Right now I feel like I'm barely hanging on and doing just enough to get by. I hate that but it's all I've been able to do right now.

Well, I am watching The Switch on the Apple TV and waiting for my hubby to get home. He has been taking such a good care of me and I missed him today. I can't wait for him to get home. :)

Goodnight world.

Day 27: Something I'm Looking Forward To

I'm looking forward to the end of the semester. I like school and even though I'm not entirely sure what is going to keep me busy all summer, I'm looking forward to a few months break.

Day 26: My Favorite Subject in School

In high school my favorite subject was writing. I did a lot of it and even more so in college. My favorite classes in college, however, are my student ministry classes where we discuss youth culture, adolescence, and all of the large and small details of student ministry in the 21st century. I have learned a lot in these classes and, through all of the books I've read and the in-class discussions, I've been able to form my own view and take on today's youth culture. It is something I'm passionate about and enjoy talking about. I don't know if or when God will call me to act on my passion and knowledge but for the time being I try to use what I've learned to help the teens in my life whenever I can.

Day 25: A Photo that Inspires Me

I have always loved "The Creation of Adam" by Michelangelo. Of course, that is a painting but I include here a photo of the part of the painting I like best. I hope this counts. . . :)

Day 24: What I Want to Do

I want to be a mommy. Ever since I was a little girl and going through all of the different stages of wanting to be a nurse, a mailman, a princess, an author and anything else I thought my little heart desired, one thing never changed. I always wanted to be a mommy. As I grew older and experienced my love for writing and my desire to go to Bible college to one day possibly work in student ministry, my heart never forgot my hope to one day be a wife and mother. Those two things have always been my greatest desire. I always had doubts and uncertainties about everything else but being a wife and mom; and not just any mom but one that stays at home and raises and educates her children. I believe God has called me to be a housewife and stay at home mom and I believe that that is just as great a calling as any other.

Photo 23: Something I Want to Do Someday

Someday I want to be able to make a beautiful tiered cake like this one. Right now I'm trying to learn more about the art of cake decorating and further my knowledge and skills. I'm trying new recipes, learning how to keep a cake fresh and moist, how to work with fondant and what different tools are and how to use them. Maybe someday I'll be able to have a big kitchen to work in but for right now I'm just doing what I can and having fun with it. :)

Day 22: A Good Memory

This is a photo that I associate a good memory with. This is my little brother, Zach, and I on a roller coaster at Six Flags quite a few years ago. My big brother was home from Iraq and he and his wife came up to Dallas for a visit. We all went to Six Flags which, I believe, was our last trip to Six Flags before the family moved to Houston.

Day 20 & 21: Something I Ate & Sombody I Find Attractive

Look at that hunk!
I missed yesterday so I'm doing yesterday and today. Yesterday I ate a Greek yogurt that I had given to my nephew to eat but he gave it back and said it was gross. So I ate it and it was actually fairly tasty. Because I was caring for four children from the ages of 6 years to 3 months old I never had the chance to eat lunch so I worked on this yogurt for hours, eating a bite whenever I got a chance.

And of course I find my husband attractive! He's a handsome baby faced hunk! haha :)

Day 19: My Favorite Thing from School

I'm not exactly sure what this means since in a few days I'll be posting a picture of my favorite SUBJECT in school so maybe this means my favorite thing ABOUT school as a whole? Not sure but I'm going to go with the latter. My favorite thing about my school is the fact that everything we study is saturated in our Christian beliefs and in the Word of God. Everything we learn goes back to the core of who we are in Christ and everything is taught and, hopefully learned, from a Christian worldview. I love how in my Hebrew class my professor goes through a passage of Scripture in Hebrew so that we learn how the Hebrew language is used and in so doing he teaches the Word and brings to light so many things that I didn't realize before. And I love how in my Roman World class (which is just a simple history class) we learn what ancient cultures believed, how they lived, and how they have impacted the world today and in so doing we see how God has worked and how all of these events play into His divine plan and will. I am so grateful for my Christian education.

Day 17: A Trip I'll Never Forget

Yes, I got behind. . .my bad. I forgot! haha
Okay, so, I went on a mission trip to Ireland a few years ago and it was awesome! I had always wanted to go to Ireland and when I got there I fell in love. It is so beautiful with it's old buildings, CASTLES, its green grass, rolling hills, quaint little country fields and roads. . .it was just awesome. I even liked the weather! I would love to go back again one day!

Day 16: A Photo from My Childhood

I loved baking then and now!
Me and my four younger siblings
Ah, childhood. Such a simple time of life. If only I knew then to appreciate it so much and stop trying to grow up so fast. But alas, you never know what you need to when you need to know it. . .you always learn better after the fact. I'm thankful for my childhood though and that I had two great parents who loved and trained me despite their faults and mine. And I'm thankful that God gave me six siblings to grow up with. It didn't always seem like a blessing but it surely was and still is. :)

Day 15: Me and a Family Member

This is me and my niece, Cilicia! She is the newest member of the family. I've only been able to see her once since she was born. :( I'm hoping to make a trip to Houston soon though! They grow up too fast!

Day 14: My Best Friend

Grace and I have been friends for four years. We've been through a lot together. We've laughed a lot, cried a lot, and have had many heart to heart conversations. I'm very thankful for her and love her a lot. She was my maid of honor in my wedding and now, on July 8th, I'll be in HER wedding!! It's been so crazy to see how God has kept us pretty close in step with each other. Any time I was going through something Grace wasn't far behind me or vice versa. And when that wasn't the case we always found a way to relate! I'm so happy for her and look forward to watching her walk through this huge event and begin the next chapter of her life. It's exciting!

Grace's engagement ring!

A Wife's Fear

I woke up at 3:50am and immediately knew something was wrong. I felt my hubby's side of the bed and it was empty. I looked at the clock and went into panic mode. I texted him "where are you?" and waited to hear his phone go off somewhere in the house. Nothing. I then rushed to the window to see if his car was parked out front. It wasn't. My next thought was that something had happened on his way home from work. He was in an accident and badly hurt. Maybe even dead. My next horrible and less likely thought was that he was cheating on me. LOL I thought all of this in the time frame of a few seconds and then my phone alerted me to an incoming text. He had texted me back saying he was on his way home. I calmed down and went back to bed. I'm now mad at him though for working so late and nearly causing me a panic attack! :P

Day 13: My Favorite Movie(s)

Technically, I'm suppose to post a picture of my favorite movie; singular. But I have so many favorites that I can't pick just one! So I'm going to post a pic of the four that immediately come to mind.

The Phantom of the Opera
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Riding in Cars with Boys
I am Sam

Day 12: A Happy Memory

My wedding day is a happy memory of course! This particular picture though screams happiness and excitement. It is one of my favorites from that day. :)

Day 11: A Night that I Loved

Let me explain. Back in high school and the early years of college I used to hang out a lot with a fun family called the Willis'. They had four girls and I was pretty good friends with all of them at some point in their life for different reasons. I still try to keep up with some of them but because of distance and life, we're not as close as we used to be. But when we were, I would hang out at their house a lot and would sometimes spend a weekend or an entire week with them. This picture is just one of many nights that I slept over. Any night with the Willis girls was great fun and we shared a ton of laughs. Here I was in bed and Joanna surprised me with a picture, flash and all. I have many memories with these girls and I hope that I made as much of an impact on them as they did on me.

I look forward to seeing what my babies will look like. I think between my husband and I they will be pretty darn cute! ;)

Day 8: Something I Enjoy Doing

Reading is one of my favorite things to do. I love a good book. My favorite authors are Frank Peretti, Ted Dekker, and Janet Oke. With Peretti I have my spiritual warfare. With Dekker I have my suspense, thriller, fantasy, and outright genius.  With Janet Oke I have my Christian romance and stories of women set back in the 17 and 1800s. Ted Dekker is probably my all time favorite because he is such a genius at what he does. He takes theology and puts it into an amazingly well written story. I highly recommend his Circle Trilogy.

For other book recommendations check out the left hand side at the bottom of this page.

Day 7: Something I Stand For

I was homeschooled and I am so thankful. I had the opportunity to attend a private Christian school full time but I refused to go and I don't regret it at all. Being homeschooled taught me to take responsibility and initiative. I learned how to work diligently and to the best of my ability. It gave me flexibility to focus on what I wanted to (or what my mother wanted me to) and I was able to learn things most kids in my grade did not. My mom likes history so she taught me and my siblings ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian history. Most importantly, I learned everything from a Biblical perspective and saw how everything went back to God and His divine plan. I was able to take co-op classes that challenged me to an even higher level of learning. I learned how to write well and to enjoy reading. When I was 15 I started taking dual college courses and when I graduated high school at 17 I had 30 college credits under my belt. Besides these educational achievements, I also learned how to think for myself and think deeply about things. And because I was with my mom so much I was able to watch her and see how to be a wife, mother, and homemaker. I learned how to do laundry (though I hated it), how to cook, bake, and clean. I learned how to raise children, how to change a diaper, how to take care of a baby and a teenager and all the ages in between. I value all of these lessons and I know that I would not be where I am today if I hadn't been homeschooled. I'm thankful to my mom for choosing this form of education for me and for being a teacher and an example. I know I didn't always make it easy for her but the older I got the more I appreciated the ability to learn and gain knowledge and to do it in a healthy environment like my home.  I look forward to teaching my own children someday and instilling in them the values, lessons, and Biblical truths that I have learned.

Day 6: A Photo of Someone I Love

My husband! Who else? haha I love him because he's very sweet, attentive, funny, smart, and is able to be sensitive without losing his manliness. ;) He's a little weird but that's okay...it's one of the things that makes him unique. :) I love him and I love being his wife.

Day 5: A Photo that Makes me Laugh

This is my niece, Cilicia. I took this picture at Christmas when she was just a few weeks old. Her crossed eyes and the look on her face cracks me up! Babies make the funniest faces sometimes! :)
